Friday Fun

I actually wrote Friday Run as the title... Wow! Running is really a focus of mine these days. I didn't realize it!

It's Sinking In!

Hi there! I hope you are all having a great start to your day. In my neck of the woods, it is just gorgeous outside! Beautiful blue skies, it's sunny, and it's going to be a breezy 17 degrees today. My kind of weather :)

I had a realization last night as I was sitting on the couch recovering from what was an amazing workout. It's finally sinking in. Let me explain...

After work, I went to pickup K from school as I do every day. We got home and our evening routine commenced. Let the dog out, go through the mail, start preparing dinner... and going through any paperwork sent home from school. K brings me a paper with a reply coupon. So I start reading... You know what it was for? K is interested in participating in her schoolboard's triathlon. A TRIATHLON!!!! Holly Molly! My 9 year-old daughter wants to participate in a triathlon. Hold on... Let me sit here and catch my breath. WOW!!

The event consists of swimming 50 meters, biking 3 km, and running 1 km. It's all good except for the swimming part. Oh she can swim! It's more the where they will be swimming that we're not too comfortable with. Had the swimming heat been in a pool, there would have been no problem at all. But the swimming heat will take place here...

Back in the day, steamship boats and cargo ships would use the canal!

All this said, I am still so very proud! Remember how I was saying that I hoped that K would put more emphasis on exercise because she sees me head out to the gym 4 nights a week? Well it's sinking in! You cannot imagine how happy I am right now. Doing the dance of joy!!

Introducing...
As you all know, I have a workout buddy. Up until now, I haven't been able to convince him to let me introduce you all to him. Well, it's sinking in! Ha Ha Ha!!!

Meet Alberto. Alberto and I first met at school. Not school where we went to school but our dauthers' school. Our daughters were in the same class in kindergarten some 4 years ago. While at the gym one day, we both noticed that we were training at the same gym. I loved doing abs and Alberto hated it with a passion. So one day he asked if he could tag along while I was doing abs because he needed some motivation to do some. I said, "Sure!" And that's how we became workout buddies.

Not only do we have a blast working out (talking and laughing away while doing cardio. yes you must try it.) but we also push each other. When one doesn't feel like it or is lacking motivation, the other pushes to get it done. Our workout regimen is similar in the sense that we do weights at the same time, cardio at the same time, and we do our abs together. It just works out so well.

Having a workout partner, for me, helps me stay motivated. It also helps that we have so much fun together too! You should hear us sometimes! My sides hurt so much from all the laughing. You know that gutt pain you get when you laugh too hard?

I also have to add that I have an amazing husband who allows me (yes allows me) to workout with Alberto. I mean come on... how many men would let their wives workout with another man. Really. But my hubby knows that nothing is going on and in a way he is relieved to know that I have a friend with me while I am working out. Just in case something were to happen. Thank you M :)

Workout Update
Yesterday's workout consisted of :
lower body strength training
45 minutes of cardio (elliptical and stairmaster)
abs

I was feeling the burn when I got home yesterday. And came across this as I was relaxing...
